Orientation Program for Diploma in Pharmacy 2020 batch
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDM University organized the “Orientation Program” for the newly admitted students in “Diploma in Pharmacy course” for session 2020-2021 on 26 October 2020 virtually on MS Teams. The esteemed event was graced with the presence of Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Bhattacharjee, as Guest of Honor and Dean F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Hema Chaudhary along with faculty members and young future pharmacists.
At the outset, the event started on MS Teams and the student coordinators, Tanvi and Megha, students of 7th Semester B. Pharm welcomed the dignitaries, staff and students. Keeping with the Indian culture to invoke the blessings of the Almighty before starting any event, the program commenced with Sarasvati Vandana, chanted by Ms. Sukriti Dubey, 7th Semester, B. Pharm. Dean, F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Hema Chaudhary welcomed the clan of future Pharmacists and expressed the impression and expectations of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She emphasized that as per the advice of the Government, that remote working is a good balance between maintaining the social distancing and keeping the country tickling over as normally as possible, the current session is commencing with online classes. Hon’ble PVC, Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Bhattacharjee in his address emphasized the role of pharmacists in current times and appealed to students to take regular classes and advised them to be disciplined and focused in their approach.
Dean, F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences connoted the importance of Pharmacy as the career option though a power point presentation to the newly joined students. The attraction of the orientation program was fulfilled lighthearted “Shayari” by Mr. Kapil, 2nd year D. Pharm. On behalf of the senior students, Mr Bikram, 7th Semester, B. Pharm delivered the welcome speech highlighting good academic exposure at F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU.
The teachers from F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences handling Diploma in Pharmacy (1st year) went live with students on MS Teams and introduced themselves and informed about the subjects which they will be handling for them.
The Dean, F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences played videos of the Career Options in Pharmacy and Presented Various Activities of F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences to the students. She also appraised them about the Course and Curriculum of Diploma in Pharmacy, highlighting about the key features regarding Annual Scheme, Sessional Scheme, Attendance Criteria for eligibility in appearing for the Examination, Promotion Policy, Examination Scheme, Timetable etc. The students were informed about the library facilities with F/o Pharmaceutical Sciences, which each one could avail. To entertain the students, a song was performed by Mr. Monu, 2nd year D. Pharm.
The students were invited to clarify their doubts though an open mic session. The coordinators invited the newly admitted students one by one for their formal introduction. The event culminated by vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Tanvi. A Group photograph was captured virtually on MS Teams to mark a memory about the phenomenal moment. It was a memorable day for all the students. They were very enthusiastic and eager to join online classes. Last but not the least all the students were wished good luck for their future endeavors.
