The Faculty of Life Sciences plays a vital and central role in contributing to the mission of PDM University. We are home to a rich portfolio of strong undergraduate and graduate programs and we are known nationally and internationally for our innovative research programs. Our enrollments are healthy, and many of our faculty members are conducting cutting edge research that is nationally and internationally recognized. Our faculty embraces the challenge of preparing our students for successful lifetime careers in the natural and life science.
PDM University has excellent laboratories in biochemistry and microbiology departments. Well-developed centers has all sorts of testing facilities for analyzing complex biological species. The faculty trains the students regarding human health and various environmental issues. Two departments namely Botany and Zoology has been established to start some new undergraduate courses to provide the solid knowledge of anatomy, animal biology, plant biology, virology etc. for the better understanding of living world sustainability.
Why Study Life Sciences
The life sciences are a collection of disciplines that investigate the structure and function of living things from molecules to entire ecosystems. The life sciences are rapidly-advancing and thoroughly exciting fields of study that include: anatomy, animal biology, bacteriology, biochemistry, cell biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, genetics, molecular biology, plant biology, physiology, and virology. The life sciences are vital to further increase our understanding of human health, environmental issues. The Life Sciences major is ideal for the student with a fascination for where we come from, why we are the way we are, and how life works – as well as those motivated by the relevance of biology to issues of human health, the environment, and sustainability. The major provides excellent preparation for careers in biological research, biotechnology, law, conservation, public policy, and science writing, as well as the health professions, including medicine, veterinary medicine and public health.
