Blood Donation Camp

A blood donation camp was organized by PDM University on 15th February 2018 at PDM General Hospital. The Programme was organized under the aegis of Lions Blood Bank.
The Programme witnessed the august presence of Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Bakhshi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, PDM University, Prof. R. C. Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, PDM University, Lion Dr Rajendra Agrawal, President Lion’s Blood Bank, Lion Mr Deepak Tuteja, Past District Governor, Lion Mr. Gobind Malik, President, Lion’s Club, Bahadurgarh Town, Lion Mr. Gulshan Sharma, Secretary, Lion’s Club, Bahadurgarh Town along with Dr. K. L. Kathuria, Medical Superintendent, PDM General Hospital, Dr Mandeep Singh, Principal, PDMDCRI and Dr Hema Chaudhary, Dean, Students Welfare and Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the dias.


Other invitees were Lion Mr. Rajeev Aggrawal, Lion’s Club Delhi IPEX, Lion Mr. Rk. Shah, Lion’s Club, Bahadurgarh Town and Lion Mr. Sube Singh, Lion’s Club, Bahadurgarh Town.
The program was emceed by Ruchika Kachroo, Himanshi Sehgal, and Niloy Banerjee. The event was commenced by offering prayer. The guests were greeted with floral bouquet by Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, PDMU. Dr. Hema Chaudhary, Dean, Student Welfare greeted Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, PDMU and Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Bhattachrejee, Hon’ble PVC, PDMU with floral bouquet, followed by her welcome speech.

In the welcome address Dr. Hema Chaudhary, Dean, Students Welfare highlighted the importance of blood donation which can help save thousands of lives. She inspired the students to come forward and donate blood to save the lives of others.

Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Bhattachrejee, Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, PDMU addressed the gathering by stating that PDMU has a history of donating blood, for which it had been awarded by Governor’s Award by Sh. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, on the occasion of AGM held on 20th January, 2018 at Haryana Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh. He mentioned that India is facing about 17% of blood shortage which is due to poor literacy rate. He highlighted that today Bihar is having 85% of blood shortage whereas Delhi has surplus blood and even today the whole country is falling short of 10% blood requirement. He emphasized to produce awareness amongst public falling in the age group of 25 to 60 yrs for voluntary blood donation. He quoted that “Blood Donation is the Best Donation”.

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, PDM University Prof. A.K. Bakhshi, shared his views and said that humanity can be served best by donation of blood voluntarily to needy people. He highlighted that blood is precious and cannot be artificially made. He also stressed that blood could save many lives. Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, PDMU emphasized on objectives of the camp and highlighted that two best donations one can give are time and blood, time to save relations and blood to save life.

Lion Mr. Deepak Tuteja, Past District Governor, thanked the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi PDMU for the kind gesture of organising blood donation camp with Lion’s club. He highlighted the benefits of donating blood as a means of purifying the whole body system. He also offered small batches as a mark of appreciation to the PDMU administration on behalf of Lions’ Club, Bahadurgarh Town.

Lion Mr. Rajeev Aggarwal, President, Lion’s Blood Bank mentioned about the specifications required during blood collection and the essential management skills so needed. He also made a mention that according to the latest studies, a male can donate blood after every three months and female after four months.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi PDMU presented mementos to all the special Invitees.

The gathering stood up in respect on playing the National Anthem.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. K. L. Kathuria.
The camp was inaugurated with ribbon cutting ceremony by Prof (Dr.) A. K. Bakhshi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor PDMU along with other dignitaries.

The camp began with lot of enthusiasm by all the students and staff. About 400 volunteers registered for blood donation, out of which around 270 candidates donated blood and around 58 candidates were differed as they were not found suitable. Donors were given refreshments, sovereign Coffee Mugs and Certificate of Appreciation for this service to humanity.

Dr. Hema Chaudhary highlighted that the team work of students and faculty members made blood donation camp a grand success and thanked them. She extended her sincere thanks to Hon’ble Management for extending all the support desired for the event.
