Guest Lecture on New Education Regulation by PCI

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU organized a guest lecture on the theme, “New Education Regulation by Pharmacy Council of India” on 16th November 2017 in G4 Hall, PDMU Campus from 11:00 am onwards. Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU and DSW, Prof (Dr) Hema Chaudhary started the event by recognizing the new changes in curriculum and the objectives behind these changes. The invited guest to deliver the lecture was Prof (Dr) Harish Dureja (Professor in Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, M D University, Rohtak).  The guest was welcomed and greeted with floral bouquet by Prof (Dr) Hema Chaudhary

Prof (Dr) Harish Dureja started his talk by sharing his experience about the Pharmacy profession. He made the students aware about the dream project of APTI and the upcoming 69th annual IPC conference to be held at Chitkara University, Chandigarh. He focused on vast possibilities available in the profession for making, “India a superpower by 2020 “.

Prof (Dr) Harish Dureja highlighted that as Pharmacy Council of India has enforced implementation of New Education Regulation from the academic session 2017-18 onwards, it is very important for the enrolled students in different Pharmacy courses to understand the new ordinances.  He made the students abreast with the scope of new syllabus in pharmacy education implemented by PCI at both UG and PG level. He also highlighted the new ordinances regarding rules and regulations for every institution in context of conduct of examination and promotion of students. He also spoke about the new pattern of examination, question paper blueprint and the marking scheme. He described in detail about the scoring criteria and the credit points awarded against the field work, assignments, training, seminars, etc. during the course of study.  He informed that a student will be allowed to complete his bachelor’s degree in maximum 08 years and M.Pharm degree by 04 years of enrollment in respective programs.

Prof (Dr) Harish Dureja interacted with faculty members and students, as he cleared their doubts about conduct of practicals for PG courses and project work to be undertaken at UG level.

The program concluded with vote of thanks by Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU and DSW, Prof (Dr) Hema Chaudhary. The honourable guest speaker Prof (Dr) Harish Dureja was presented a memento as a small token of respect by Mrs. Sushila Rathee, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy and Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU, Prof (Dr) Hema Chaudhary.
