Industrial trip to Mankind Research Center

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDM University organized an Industrial visit to Mankind Research Center, Manesar, Gurgaon for B.Pharm 4th year students on 24th January 2023. A team of 25 students accompanied with 3 staff members went for the tour with equal participation of both boys and girls. Students boarded the bus from PDM campus around 10 am and reached the stop at 11:30 am.

Mankind Pharma was established in the year 1991, one of India’s largest pharmaceutical company and made its name in the top list for developing, manufacturing and marketing a diverse range of pharmaceutical formulations across various acute and chronic therapeutic areas, as well as several consumer healthcare products. 18 brands out of 20 highest selling brands are ranked among the highest selling brands in their respective molecule groups and 18 of their brands are among the 300 highest selling brands of IPM. Along with healthcare products they are also working on Biotechnological products including 2 monoclonal antibodies and has filed 3 NDA.

On arrival at Industry, the students were welcomed and were allowed to visit the industry along with their guide. Students were headed towards to the conference hall where an insightful session was conducted by Mr. Ekansh , Project manager where he gave a brief presentation about Mankind pharma and cleared queries of the students regarding different job opportunities after completing their Bachelor’s degree.

After the fruitful session students visited the industry where they were introduced with the Dissolution Apparatus, Disintegration Apparatus, chemical room, latest designed HPLC apparatus etc. used in Microbiological/ QC laboratory to test raw materials as well as finished products. During this interaction, Mr. Ekansh talked about considerations to be made during purchase of raw materials, their storage , dispensing, production considerations , in-process quality control (IPOQ) , labelling, packaging and distribution was discussed. He also explained about the powder granulation and tableting machine which is used for the production of tablets.

This exposure helped students to gain real time knowledge of what they have been learning theoretically in their books. Before leaving the company, staff members and students gathered outside the research center and got clicked in some group photos.
