The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a United Nations International Day against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. It is observed annually on 26th June, since 1989. Inter-departmental Group Discussion was organized by PDM University on the same day. The online Competition was organized with the aim of providing a best platform to the students to showcase their talent during this pandemic situation due to covid-19, following the rules of government.

All departments of PDM University came forward and showed active participation in the event. There were significant number of participants from different departments representing their Faculty in this Group Discussion.

The event started with a brief introduction delivered by Dr. Mitushi Gupta, Head of Sociology Department. The Competition was a much-anticipated discussion as it was organized with a view to boost up the mind of students and make them learn that efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction. All the students efficiently put forward their views about the Drug Abuse and its illicit trafficking by relating to the real-life examples, majorly focusing on its preventions and our social duties.

The event was conducted on Microsoft Team under the coordination of Vinay Kandhal, Student Chief Coordinator and in the presence of domain expert and an efficient judge Dr. Mitushi Gupta (Head, Department of Sociology).

The competition came to an end with a finalist after three rounds of judgements. First round was done between 13 Teams with each team comprising of max. 4 participants, from each Faculty of PDM University.
