Students of PDMU at SPIRIT 2018
Students of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU participated in the Spirit’ 18: An annual All India Student’s Conclave and a National Seminar organised by the Pharmaceutical Society of IIT-Banaras Hindu University at Varanasi.
The 9th edition of Spirit Annual Fest of Pharmaceutical Society encompassed a National level seminar on the theme “Pragmatic approach towards Pharmaceutical Transcendence”.
The event was inaugurated on 3rd of February amidst a gathering of esteemed professionals from the pharmaceutical industry and academia, prestigious associations, international professional leaders and students.
The event provided an opportunity to students to get indulged in the technical cum scientific advancement the world of Pharmaceutical Industry is gaining. Not only this, it also helped students to gain an experience of sojourn to the holy city of Varanasi and give them an amalgamation of cultural, spiritual and divine atmosphere leading to a salubrious state of their psyche supporting the feeling that “A healthy mind resides in a healthy body.”
Twelve students from Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences attended the seminar. All the students registered themselves by paying the registration fee which covered 02 days accommodation charges and food. The students departed from Delhi on 1st January 2018 at 10:30pm. After the journey of 13 hours the students reached Banaras Hindu University at 11:00 am. The students were provided hostel accommodation after having the lunch.
The highlights of seminar were:
- More than 20 Colleges all over the country participated in the event.
- Oral and Poster presentation by delegates on scientific findings was organized.
- Various North Indian delicacies were offered to all the participating delegates.
- A kit consisting of participation certificate with a CD having history of the event was given to all the delegates.
The students visited the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, BHU-IIT and attended various workshops on demonstration of working of High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy. The students attended scientific sessions covering the topics on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) drugs.
Posters from different institutes were on display as the faculty members guided the students through them.
Students participated in the various guest talks and various events like:
- Analytical events : included EUREKA, CONDON, IMPULSE,
- Magna Carta : included SYNETICS, PANACEA, BULL’S EYE,
- Rhetorica : included VECTOR, GENIUS MINDS, IGNITED MIND,
- Scientific events : included POLARIS, AGNITIO AND FABRICA.
Akshay Agarwal, student of B. Pharmacy final Year was able to secure 3rd position in the written quiz event.
B.Pharmacy final year students, Akshay Aggarwal and Himanshu together secured 3rd position in the Poster Presentation session for the poster entitled ‘OUABAIN ANALOGUE AS A SELECTIVE AND POTENT MALE CONTRACEPTIVE’.
The students visited Kashi Vishvnath Mandir and attented Ganga Aarti during their visit to BHU-IIT.
The students departed from the Banaras Hindu University on 4th January 2018 at 7:30pm and arrived Delhi at 11:00 am on 5th Jan 2018.
The students had hands on learning experience as they got the feel of Pharmaceutical Industry and had a chance to interact with eminent dignitaries.
The students had a wonderful time and enthralling experience at the holy city and paying visit to their own spirit.
