World Ozone Day Celebrated by the Faculty of Life Sciences
The Life Science Society “BION” Organized a Quiz Competition on 16th September 2022 on the “World Ozone Day” to make the students aware of ozone depletion and other environmental issues related to the climate change. Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Suman, Dr. Monika and Ms. Sakshi were the event coordinators. It was organized by the students of all the departments of Faculty of Life Sciences. Students of Life sciences and other departments of the PDM university participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and zeal showing their concern about environmental issues.
Twenty students registered for the quiz competition and ten teams with 2 students each were named with letter A to J. There were 3 rounds in this competition. The first round of quiz was on three thought provoking questions of 40 seconds duration. Selected teams of the first round entered into the second rapid fire round of six questions. Shortlisted five teams in the second round were given topics for extempore speech. The impromptu speech was of 2 minute duration with 1 minute preparation time.
Audience of various streams and jury graced the event by showing their support to the participants and small gifts were given to audience on giving right answers.
The competition finally ended with team E of Shruti & Kirti winning the 1st prize. The team D of Samrat and Tanishka got 2nd Position. Monika & Simran from team A , secured the third position.
In the end the winners were awarded the certificates and prizes by Dr. Laxmi Narula (Head of the department, Faculty of Life Sciences) and the Jury members Dr. Sulochana, Dr Kavita, Dr Dibyakanti Mandal.
