World Pharmacists Day 2017 Celebration

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU celebrated World Pharmacist Day on theme “From Research to Health Care: Your pharmacist is at your service” with great enthusiasm on September 25, 2017 at G4 Hall in PDMU Campus from 1:30 pm onwards. Dignitaries from various different Universities were invited on this auspicious occasion. The special invitee was Prof. Dr. Arun Nanda from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak and Prof. Dr. S.K. Sharma from DPSRU and Prof. Dr. R.C. Bhattacharjee, Pro Vice-Chancellor, PDMU. Event started with tilak ceremony of the dignitaries and the program was emceed by Ruchika Kachroo, Himanshi Sehgal, Anu Arora and Niloy Banerjee.

 

The program commenced by seeking the blessing of Goddess Saraswati with the lamp lightening ceremony followed by Saraswati Vandana. The dignitaries were greeted with floral bouquet by respected Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU Prof. Dr. Hema Chaudhary followed by her welcome speech. She emphasized on the different roles of pharmacist and enlightened the actual meaning of the word “P.H.A.R.M.A.C.I.S.T.” She also discussed about the scope of pharmacy profession, the challenges related to this field and emphasized the role of pharmacist towards the society and reminded all the gathering about the initiative of “SWACH BHARAT, SWASTH BHARAT”.

Prof. Dr. R.C. Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor PDMU, wished audience a very happy World Pharmacist Day 2017. He shared his views on the scope and values of pharmacist. He updated the attendees about the new technology through which diagnosis and treatment would get easier. He highlighted the role of pharmacist over the profession of a Physician and Nurses quoted that “Physician and Nurses are companion of the pharmacist” as he wished all the budding pharmacists that “Tomorrow Is Yours, Give Your Best”.

Prof. Dr. Arun Nanda from Maharshi Dayanand University addressed the gathering by introducing himself as a proud pharmacist and wished all a Happy World Pharmacist Day. His humbleness was showcased in his words that “I am a student, I’m still learning”. He boosted up the budding pharmacist by making the students aware about the job certainty in this field. He mentioned about Late Dr. Bhagwan Dass Miglani founder Secretary of the Indian Hospital Pharmacist Association. He updated the students by telling that the key to success are knowledge, utility and confidence. He highlighted the role of humanity and ethics in the profession.

Prof. Dr. S.K. Sharma from DPSRU stated himself as a proud pharmacist and wished all a Happy World Pharmacist Day. He highlighted the role of pharmacists in healthcare, and elaborated the meaning of ‘R.E.S.E.A.R.C.H.’. He inspired pharmacists to work together and work for society from lab to field. He talked about the latest curriculum issued by Pharmacy Council of India” and that a pharmacist should possess soft skills along with professional knowledge. He mentioned about National Formulary of India and latest the appendix describing its features.

He felt very grateful to Dr. Hema Chaudhary for inviting them for the event and admired all students who were dressed up uniformly in white lab coats that marked their dedication towards the profession.

As a regular practice, the latest edition of PharmaBuds Bulletin was unveiled along with release of e-calendar. A movie  was showcased covering the events such as Pharma-rally, Health and Blood Donation Camp held in 2016 and Teachers Day Celebration 2017 held at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU.

The program concluded with an oath ceremony where in all the dignitaries along with the students took the “OATH”.  The dignitaries were thanked by presentation of mementoes as a small token of respect by Prof. Dr. Hema Chaudhary, Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, PDMU. The event concluded by vote of thanks and by reciting the National Anthem.
