This celebration focuses on respecting, appreciating and showing gratitude towards women for their achievements in PDM Group of Institutions

On the Occasion of International Women’s Day 2017, PDM College of Pharmacy and PDM University jointly organized “INSPIRE AND CELEBRATE”along with a Rangoli Making Competition highlighting the theme “BE BOLD FOR CHANGE” on 08th March 2017 at G4 Seminar hall, PDM Campus.

The event started with the warm welcome to Students, Faculty and Invitees from various PDM Group of Institutions.

The event started with the welcome address by Dr.Hema Chaudhary, Principal, PDM College of Pharmacy. She wished Happy International Women’s Day to Students, Faculty and Invitees. She also briefed the audience about Women Empowerment and emphasised the need for change in constrained and narrow thought process.


The Invitees of the event were Dr. R. C. Bhattacharjee, Pro Vice Chancellor of PDM University, Dr Naresh Kumar Dua, Acting Registrar of PDM University and Mrs. Sangeeta Kathuria, Principal, PDM Public School, faculties of all the PDM Group of Institutions and students of PDM College of Pharmacy. The Principal welcomed the special invitees with floral accord.

In the address by the special invitee, Dr.Naresh Kumar Dua, Acting Registrar and Controller of examination, PDM University mentioned women as the building pathway for men. He referred women as Architect of Society who shape and build the basic backbone of the society.

In the address by Dynamic Lady, Mrs. Sangeeta Kathuria took attention and emotions of crowd by narrating her personal life tale in her talk. She covered her journey from Doordarshan to Radio followed by her career building process till date at PDM Public School.She also emphasized on various roles played by women by relating it to herself.

The Special Invitee of the event, Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Bhattacharjee, Pro Vice Chancellor of PDM University in his address outlined about woman as a Supreme Power. He highlighted that woman plays a vital role in growth of a man and highlighted her various responsibilities in day to day life. He emphasized on how challenging it is for a woman to handle her professional and personal life parallelly. He also appreciated Dr. Hema Chaudhary, Principal, PDM College of Pharmacy for her hardwork and dedication. He also gave prominence to Naari Shakti bycomparing woman to Goddess Durga. He mentioned that woman need not be empowered as a woman is already so strong.

Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, PDM University in his address mentioned informative quote from religious book stating why referring woman as a negative identity who gives birth to the king.
Major (Retd.) Baldev Singh, Estate Officer, PDMREA stressed on famous women personalities in history supporting his view about how strong women leaders are, where she is capable of taking strongest decisions in reference to scenario where even male would have feared. He also quoted Indira Gandhi’s example in his talk.
Faculty were invited to present their views on the International Women’s Day and its theme.Spotlight of the event was a short video clipping on “Women Achievers who made India Proud” prepared by students of PDM College of Pharmacy which was appreciated by all.


Another video clipping of Rangolis made by students in morning was also showcased.PDM College of Pharmacy hosted Rangoli Making Competition on the theme of Women Empowerment and Be Bold For Change during morning hours accounting participation by 88 students showcasing 41 Rangolis in college premises.


Panel of Jury was also appointed who judged Rangolis on basis of theme and creativity. All the special invitees were felicitated by Principal, PDM College of Pharmacy by presenting them  a memento.


The students, faculty and Principal, PDM College of Pharmacy supported the theme “Be Bold For Change” by wearing black attite.
Winners for Rangoli Making Competition were announced during the event by Principal, PDM College of Pharmacy. She also extended her thanks and invited the Guests, Faculty members to visit the Rangoli arena in PDM College of Pharmacy premises. A token of appreciation was extended to faculty members from PDM Group of Institutions for their participation in the
celebration.

She appreciated the students for their over whelming response and contribution for the event. She also congratulated the student volunteers for their hard work and grand success of the event.Gifts were distributed to Female Faculties as a token of gratitude.
