PDM provides one of the fastest and smoothest network to its students with the help of the networking giant CISCO, which has helped the institution in developing a seamless network throughout the campus. Every single part of the campus is connected with 10 Gigabits of Fiber Optical Cable connecting more than 500 powerful networking devices including Switches (L2 & L3), Routers, Servers (Blades, Xeon), & Firewalls.

Data Centre

PDM Data Center Operations provides 24/7 operational support for academic and administrative systems throughout the Campus to meet the growing information technology (IT) needs of researchers, colleges and schools, and administrative units at PDM Group of Institutions.

Virtual servers, physical servers, databases, and storage can be configured, procured, implemented, and managed in the secure IT data center in support of departmental or group applications. Database management services and related storage are provided for SQL Server, and MySQL databases.

Web Security Appliances

PDM uses Cisco Web Security Appliance (WSA) to manage network bandwidth for rapidly growing student body. PDM implemented the Cisco Web Security Appliance (WSA). The WSA Combines Advanced Malware Protection, application visibility and control, acceptable-use policies, insightful reporting, and highly secure mobility on a single platform.

Identity Services Engine (ISE)

In an effort to protecting users and the PDM Network from viruses, malware, and illegal content, PDM has implemented Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to enable comprehensive and consistent security for the different types of devices attached to its network. The Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) provides IT Support team to detect blacklisted users, visibility of who is on the network at any point in time, along with the number and type of devices. ISE has made the manageability of the devices much easier and secure. With over 1000 IPad users and 12000 smartphone users, Cisco ISE is a perfect partner of ‘PDM Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy’.

Powerful Server Matrix

Multiple Cisco UCS Blade Server Chassis at PDM revolutionizes the use and deployment of blade-based systems. By incorporating unified fabric and fabric-extender technology, the Cisco Unified Computing System enables the chassis to:

• Require no independent management
• Be more energy efficient than traditional blade-server chassis

This simplicity eliminates the need for dedicated chassis management and blade switches, reduces cabling, and allowing scalability up to 20 chassis without adding complexity. Also, PDM Datacenter in houses several other robust servers adding the much required redundancy to the network. This Server infrastructure is a critical component in delivering the simplicity and IT responsiveness for the data center as part of the Cisco Unified Computing System.
